MOXI LASER FAQs

Q: How do I know if I am a candidate for laser treatments?

A: The best way to know for sure is through a complimentary skin consultation. During your visit, we’ll assess your skin type and specific concerns, such as pigmentation, texture, fine lines, or acne scarring to determine which laser is safest and most effective for you. Your first consultation is complimentary, please call the clinic to book with us!

Q: How many MOXI treatments will I need?

A: This will depend on your treatment goals and the level of correction desired. Most patients receive 3 to 4 corrective MOXI treatments, then often elect for regular maintenance treatments. Talk to your practitioner about your goals, and they can advise you on the best treatment regimen.

Q: What do I do before and after my MOXI treatment?

A: Before your MOXI treatment, you should avoid taking antihistamines, NSAIDs, and antibiotics 48 hours prior to your treatment.
After a MOXI Laser session, patients are typically advised to follow a gentle skincare routine. During this phase, sunscreen and hydration are essential to support healing. It is essential to protect the treated skin from direct sunlight and wear sunscreen to safeguard the skin’s integrity. Makeup can be worn after the first 24 hours post treatment.

Q: Is there any downtime after the MOXI treatment?

A: One of the remarkable advantages of Moxi treatments is the minimal downtime they entail. Following a session, patients can typically resume their regular activities immediately. While mild redness and swelling, akin to a mild sunburn, are common and temporary side effects, they subside within a few days, allowing individuals to enjoy the benefits of the treatment without prolonged recovery periods.

Q: How long does it take to see results after a MOXI treatment?

A: Immediately following the treatment, your skin may appear pink or flushed, similar to a light sunburn. Mild to moderate redness and swelling are common for the first 1 to 2 days. In the days that follow, you may experience a sandpaper-like texture as the skin naturally exfoliates, along with 5 days of “microcrusting.” These tiny rough spots, known as MENDS (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris), are part of the skin’s natural renewal process and typically resolve on their own. Full, healed results take around 2 weeks to fully show.

Q: Is MOXI painful?

A: MOXI is a gentle and comfortable laser treatment that most patients find very tolerable. The numbing cream applied to the treatment area before the procedure minimizes discomfort during treatment to keep you comfortable.

Q: Can MOXI be combined with other treatments?

A: Yes, Moxi Laser can be seamlessly combined with other treatments to enhance its effectiveness. One popular combination is with BBL (BroadBand Light) treatments. This synergy amplifies the benefits of both therapies, providing patients with comprehensive skin rejuvenation. Combining Moxi Laser with other treatments is often recommended for individuals seeking multifaceted improvements in their skin’s appearance.

Q: How long should I wait before and after laser for other facial treatments?

A: You should not undergo other facials treatments 2 weeks before and after your laser treatment.

Q: What do I do if my redness is lasting longer than expected?

A: It’s normal to experience some redness and sensitivity for a few days to about a week after laser treatment, though everyone’s skin is different. It is important to ensure you are following the appropriate skincare regimen to increase healing. Keep your skin hydrated with a gentle moisturizer, continue applying SPF daily, and avoid direct sun exposure.
