How many Halo treatments do I need?

What should I avoid before and after a Halo treatment

Accepted Answer

Before your Halo treatment, you should avoid taking antihistamines, NSAIDs, and antibiotics 48 hours prior to your treatment as well as avoid applying retinol before your treatment. After treatment, patients should avoid strenuous exercise and sweating until skin is healed. Avoiding direct sunlight is also important to prevent damage to the skin and to provide protection until the healing process is complete.

What should I expect post-treatment?

Redness and swelling is to be expected the first few days of treatment and can be relieved with a cold compress. Depending on the treatment level, redness may persist for up to 7 days and swelling may be experienced for 2-4 days. MENDS (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris) will also appear as dark tiny spots post-treatment as they are part of the skin’s natural renewal process and typically resolve on their own.

What should I do for post-treatment care after a Halo Laser?

In the first 24 hours, there may be some pinpoint bleeding followed by days 2 to 3, a bronzing, sandpaper-like texture will form on the skin as MENDS (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris) make their way to the surface and fall off by day 4 or 5, depending on the treatment depth and intensity.

A gentle cleanser and moisturizer are recommended until the skin has naturally exfoliated. Sunscreen should be applied daily with no direct exposure for 7 days post-treatment.

For the first 24 to 48 hours, you should keep your skin protected with an occlusive barrier like Vaseline according to your clinician’s instructions. After the first 24 to 48 hours have passed, the treated skin will begin to slough off as new healthy skin comes to the surface. You may experience social downtime for a few days but can resume normal daily activities as desired.
