How many MOXI treatments will I need?

This will depend on your treatment goals and the level of correction desired. Most patients receive 3 to 4 corrective MOXI treatments, then often elect for regular maintenance treatments every 6 months. Talk to your practitioner about your goals, and they can advise you on the best treatment regimen.

What do I avoid before and after my MOXI treatment?

Before your MOXI treatment, you should avoid taking antihistamines, NSAIDs, and antibiotics 48 hours prior to your treatment as well as avoid applying retinol before your treatment. After treatment, patients should avoid strenuous exercise and sweating until skin is healed. Avoiding direct sunlight is also important to prevent damage to the skin and to provide protection until the healing process is complete.

What should I expect post-treatment?

Patients may experience mild to moderate swelling, redness and warmth around the treated area which is common after treatment but can be counteracted with a cold compress. Redness can persist for up to 7 days and swelling may last 2-4 days.

MENDS (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris) will also appear 2-3 days after treatment as tiny dark spots that are part of the skin’s natural renewal process and typically resolve on their own. In the days that follow, you may experience a sandpaper-like texture as the skin naturally exfoliates, along with 5 days of “microcrusting.”
