BBL FAQs

Q: How do I know if I am a candidate for laser treatments?

A: The best way to know for sure is through a complimentary skin consultation. During your visit, we’ll assess your skin type and specific concerns, such as pigmentation, texture, fine lines, or acne scarring to determine which laser is safest and most effective for you. Your first consultation is complimentary, please call the clinic to book with us!

Q: What is BBL?

A: Broadband light treatment also known as intense pulsed light therapy or photo facial, relies on light energy that penetrates deep into the skin to target and target skin conditions like acne, rosacea, sun damage, and other signs of aging. This treatment sends light energy deep into the skin to boost your body’s natural ability to fight aging. The amazing result is skin that’s visibly younger looking for years to come.

Q: What Does BBL Treatment Do?

A: Your skin will be treated with short pulses of high-intensity light, which targets issues like pigmented lesions such as freckles and age spots caused by sun exposure, vascular lesions or small blood vessels, redness, rosacea, and even active acne.  It addresses uneven skin texture and results in firmer, smoother skin. The heat produced by this treatment also stimulates new collagen production, helping to heal and rejuvenate skin and restore a more youthful appearance.

Q: Which Areas of the Body Can I Treat with BBL?

A: While BBL could be used to treat almost any area of concern on the body, it is most commonly used to address areas like the face, neck, chest, and hands that receive the most sun exposure and are prone to pigmented lesions and other common signs of aging.

Q: Does BBL Treatment have downtime?

A: Broadband light therapy is Health Canada approved as a safe and effective anti-aging treatment. BBL addresses the underlying layers of your skin where much of the aging occurs. BBL is safe for almost all skin types and has little to no downtime. Patients are able to return to normal activities immediately.

Q: Is BBL Treatment Painful?

A: At MC beauty Cosmetic Clinic your comfort is a top priority. The heat generated by this treatment is counteracted by cooling features to help you remain comfortable and relaxed throughout your treatment. This process can be completed in 15 to 20 minutes allowing for less discomfort.

Q: What Can I Expect During Recovery?

A: You can generally expect the recovery process to last anywhere from about 7-14 days.  Redness, bruising, and swelling are common during the first couple of days following the procedure, and most patients report feeling like they have a sunburn in treated areas.  Application of an ice pack and the use of OTC painkillers can help to treat any swelling or discomfort immediately following the procedures. It is recommended that you avoid direct sun exposure during recovery and always apply sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.  Many patients are able to resume normal activities immediately.

Q: When Will I See Results?

A: You could start to see improvement within about a week, but final results are typically visible within 2-3 weeks of treatment.  It may take several treatments to achieve the rejuvenating results you crave. Most patients undergo 3-4 treatments, performed at intervals of about 2-4 weeks, depending on a personalized plan for treatment.

Q:  How Long Does BBL Last?

A:  It is recommended that patients receive up to four treatments per year to enjoy optimal results.

Q: How long should I wait before and after laser for other facial treatments?

A: You should not undergo other facials treatments 2 weeks before and after your laser treatment.

Q: What do I do if my redness is lasting longer than expected?

A: It’s normal to experience some redness and sensitivity for a few days to about a week after laser treatment, though everyone’s skin is different. It is important to ensure you are following the appropriate skincare regimen to increase healing. Keep your skin hydrated with a gentle moisturizer, continue applying SPF daily, and avoid direct sun exposure.
